  Standard preventive protection in dentistry - hand hygiene system for medical staff

   Vickong Dental conducts hand hygiene and disinfection assessment and guidance for staff in the department to ensure that the personal protective measures of medical staff are standardized and in place. The hand hygiene system for medical staff is as follows:

   1. The stomatology department is equipped with qualified non-hand faucets, hand drying items or facilities to avoid secondary pollution. Soap should be kept clean and dry. Containers for soap solution should be single-use, and reusable containers should be cleaned and disinfected weekly. When the soap solution is cloudy or discolored, replace it in time, and clean and sterilize the container. Do not add soap directly to an unused dispenser.

   2. Hand washing and hygiene Hand disinfection should follow the following principles:

   ① When there is visible contamination such as blood or other body fluids on your hands, wash your hands with soap (soap) and running water. ②When there is no visible contamination on the hands, it is advisable to use quick-drying hand sanitizer to disinfect hands instead of washing hands.

   3. In the following cases, medical staff should choose to wash hands or use quick-drying hand sanitizers according to the principles of hand washing and hand disinfection:

   ① Before and after direct contact with each patient, when moving from the contaminated part of the same patients body to the clean part.

   ② Before and after contact with the patients mucous membrane, damaged skin or wound, and after contact with the patients blood, body fluids, secretions, excretions, wound dressings, etc.

   ③ Before and after putting on and taking off the isolation gown, and after taking off the gloves.

   ④ Before aseptic operation, contact with clean, sterile items

   ⑤ After touching the patients surroundings and objects.

   ⑥ Before handling drugs or catering.

   4. Medical staff should wash their hands first, and then perform hygienic hand disinfection in the following situations:

   ① After touching the blood, body fluids and secretions of patients and articles contaminated with infectious pathogenic microorganisms.

   ② After directly inspecting, treating, nursing or disposing of contaminants of infectious patients.

   5. Hand washing method:

   ① Under running water, make your hands fully wet.

   ②Take an appropriate amount of soap (soap) and apply it evenly to the entire palm, back of the hand, fingers and between the fingers.

   ③ Carefully rub your hands for at least 15 seconds, and pay attention to washing all the skin on your hands, including the back of your fingers, the tips of your fingers and the gaps between your fingers. The specific rubbing steps are (six-step hand washing method):

   A With palms facing each other, fingers close together and rub each other.

   B The palms of the palms and the backs are rubbed together along the fingers, and the exchange is carried out.

   C palms facing each other and rubbing each other between fingers

   D. Bend the fingers so that the joints are rotated and rubbed in the palm of the other hand, and the exchange is performed.

   E Hold the thumb of the left hand with the right hand and rotate and rub, and the exchange is performed.

   F Put the tips of five fingers together in the palm of the other hand and rub together, and then switch.

   ④ Thoroughly rinse your hands under running water, dry them, and take an appropriate amount of hand lotion for skin care.

   6. Hand disinfection method:

   ① Take an appropriate amount of quick-drying hand sanitizer in the palm of your hand.

   ② Strictly follow the steps of the six-step hand washing method to rub.

   ③ When rubbing, ensure that the hand sanitizer completely covers the skin of the hands until the hands are dry.

   7. Surgical hand disinfection should follow the following principles:

   ① Wash hands first, then disinfect.

   ② Surgical hand disinfection should be performed again between operations of different patients, when gloves are damaged or hands are contaminated.

   8. Handwashing methods and requirements for surgical hand disinfection

   ①Before washing your hands, you should remove hand accessories and trim your nails, and the length should not exceed your fingertips.

   ② Take an appropriate amount of detergent to wash hands, forearm and lower 1/3 of upper arm, and rub carefully. When cleaning your hands, pay attention to the dirt under the nails and the folds of the skin on the hands.

   ③ Rinse hands, forearm and lower 1/3 of upper arm with running water.

   ④ Dry hands, forearm and lower 1/3 of upper arm with dry hand items.

   9. Surgical hand disinfection method

   ①Hand sanitizing method Apply an appropriate amount of hand sanitizer to each part of the hands, the lower 1/3 of the forearm and upper arm, and rub it carefully for 2-6 minutes, and rinse the hands, forearm and lower 1/3 of the upper arm with running water , dry thoroughly with a sterile towel. Special cases

   When the water quality does not meet the requirements, the surgeon should apply alcohol hand sanitizer to disinfect his hands before wearing gloves and then wear gloves. 14 ②The method of hand sanitizing with no rinsing Apply an appropriate amount of hand sanitizer to each part of the hands, the lower 1/3 of the forearm and upper arm, and rub it carefully until the sanitizer is dry.

   10. Precautions for surgical hand disinfection

   ①No fake nails should be worn, and the tissues around the nails should be kept clean.

   ② During the entire hand disinfection process, keep your hands in front of your chest and higher than your elbows, so that water flows from your hands to your elbows. ③Wash hands and disinfection can use sponges, other rubbing supplies or rub hands with each other.

   ④After removing surgical gloves after surgery, use soap (soap) to clean your hands.

   ⑤Nail cleaning appliances and rubbing supplies after use, such as sponges, hand brushes, etc., should be placed in designated containers; rubbing supplies should be disinfected after each use or disposable; nail cleaning supplies should be cleaned and disinfected daily.
